Community Engagement Specialist


Program Recruitment of Participants
•    Recruit participants for our monthly classes in job readiness and job search
•    Build a strong recruiting and referral outreach team by managing and growing the Ambassador Program
•    Conduct extensive community outreach within Metro Boston to connect with potential program applicants

Community Outreach
•    Design, implement and manage an effective organization-wide recruitment strategy collaborating with staff, volunteers and participants
•    Establish partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, city departments, trade organizations, and houses of worship
•    Work directly with CEO to develop and implement outreach program to corporate partners and sponsors
•    Be our primary representative at community and networking events to deliver presentations and information sessions 

Marketing/Social Media
•    Create social media campaigns for events and fundraising that yield measurable results
•    Design, write, and disseminate a variety of communications and marketing products (i.e. flyers, event programs, social media posts)

•    Proven experience managing &/or directing a program area focused on recruitment
•    Evidenced knowledge of Metro Boston community based organizations and centers
•    Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships
•    Marketing and design experience (print and web) with social, digital and traditional media to support program goals
•    Competent with design of marketing materials (print and web), content writing and presentation skills

Employment Counselor


Seeking a highly motivated individual to join our job search team. Employment Counselor will work with participants to prepare them for their job search and help them to secure employment. This is a full-time position with benefits. Office conveniently located in Downtown Crossing Boston, accessible by public transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist clients in writing effective resumes, finding job opportunities, and preparing applications that lead to interviews.

• Coach candidates throughout job-search process

• Lead group sessions during the Job Search Course and Job Club

• Conduct practice interviews and provide constructive feedback

• Collaborate with staff on facilitating information sessions

• Assist with recruiting new participants, new employers, and new volunteers

• Monitor and report on participants’ progress. Provide referrals for other resources

Growth Opportunities:

• Teaching; mentoring participants long-term; building relationships with local employers

• Social media/marketing projects – create and post original content, graphic design

• Stable work history and/or related volunteer or internship experience

• Human Services, Human Resources, Staffing or Recruitment experience helpful

• Ability to develop professional relationships; strong interpersonal and communication skills

• Commitment to helping a diverse population of job seekers build careers and transform their lives

• Good writing skills and computer skills required

• Effective working on a team as well as independently

• Good at identifying success factors and helping others work through challenges

• Able to multi-task and work with shifting priorities; quick, analytical, and thorough

• Work effectively with adults of diverse educational, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds

• College education preferred

• Occasional evening availability is helpful but not required

Career Coach

Key Responsibilities:

• Pro-actively coach clients for 2 years to help them retain their jobs, make career progress, and meet financial goals

• Teach participants about workplace culture, employers’ expectations, problem-solving, conflict resolution and salary negotiations

• Listen, identify issues and concerns, build trusting relationships and provide feedback on progress.

• Identify participant needs for support services such as childcare, housing, transitional assistance and provide referrals

• Manage special projects and events to support participants’ career advancement


• Excellent coaching skills coupled with an ability to motivate adults over a sustained period of time

• Demonstrated understanding of the problems faced by low-income adults and the barriers that make continuous employment difficult

• Exceptional interpersonal, decision-making, problem solving and crisis management skills

• Understanding of employment rules, regulations and the social skills that contribute to successful employment

• Results oriented individual with excellent organizational skills, attention to detail; Proven ability to handle competing priorities and think critically using sound judgment

• At least 3 to 5 years of stable professional work experience with career advancement

• Cultural competency and sensitivity with individuals representing a variety of needs, abilities and socioeconomic backgrounds

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
